What "NOT TO DO" When Removing Vermiculite insulation

Many insulation extraction companies use this type of system to remove old unwanted insulation:

Using a vacuum system like this has its benefits for extracting “non-asbestos” containing

insulation -- yet it is NOT designed for insulation extraction projects where asbestos is present.

These systems lack the ability to HEPA filter the air being blown into the porous fiber bag.

Definitely not a safe situation for anyone’s breathing zone!

Many companies that sell these gasoline powered vacuum systems &

porous fiber bags provide disclaimers on their promotional material claiming

“NO INSULATION VACUUM BAGS ON THE MARKET ARE HEPA RATED

AND SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR THE REMOVAL OF ASBESTOS INSULATION”

It has come to our attention that many abatement contractors are using this type of porous bag extraction technique within a “makeshift tent” or within a truck in their customers' yards.   Blowing dry, microscopic & toxic asbestos fibers into a porous bag without HEPA filtration is completely against all known asbestos abatement regulations...State and Federal.  Always be sure to ask contractors what type of extraction method they intend to use for your vermiculite abatement project to lessen the risks of unnecessary exposures & contamination.

As can be seen in this video

the fiber bag placed in the truck is not "HEPA" filtered and any asbestos fibers being blown into this porous bag will be strewn into the surrounding area, thus contaminating everything surrounding it and the asbestos fibers become "dust in the wind".  Even if this bag is in a tent or enclosed area, the dust is still being released in an extreme amount creating a "visible emissions" situation.   Not what the asbestos regulations allow, in any state.

We innovated our BEST process to solve this extraction problem.   Asbestos contaminated vermiculite has caused anough harm, let's not let this continue.
